DIRECTOR OF WEALTH PLANNING

Chris is responsible for crafting the evolving wealth planning experience for BWM’s affluent families.  Working together with BWM advisors, he develops and implements custom-tailored, multi-generational wealth plans. These plans are based on a thorough understanding of each client’s personal values, as well as the vision each has for their legacy.  Chris works with clients, their families, and their trusted advisors to address income and estate tax concerns utilizing various wealth planning strategies and techniques. Chris also focuses on business succession and sale issues and develops charitable giving structures that allow for the expression of philanthropic aims while helping to benefit the overall portfolio. In all wealth planning work with clients, asset protection considerations are at the forefront.

The decades of experience and specialization that Chris brings to this process helps to open a financial dialogue among family members and improves communication and the sharing of family values across generations.

Prior to joining Brown Wealth Management, Chris spent over 20 years focused on the wealth planning needs of real estate investors, business owners and other high net-worth families, first in private practice as a tax attorney and then as a Director of Wealth Planning for Wells Fargo Private Bank.  Chris speaks and writes frequently on matters relating to tax law and wealth planning and has been cited on multiple occasions in the New York TimesBloomberg and other national publications.

Chris received a Juris Doctorate from Florida State University and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida.  He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2001 and achieved Board Certification in Tax Law in 2010.  Chris has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional since 2005.

Chris lives in Encinitas with his wife and three children.  He is an avid reader, mostly about the science of the very big and the very small.  In-between shuttling his children to various sports and events, Chris finds time to play some beach volleyball and a little guitar.
